Abba Shaul

Abba Shaul
(fl. 2nd cent)
   Palestinian scholar. He was the colleague of Judah ben Illai and Meir. He described himself as a gravedigger and explained various burial customs. He also transmitted tradi-tions concerning pathology and growth of the human embryo. He often used his own terminology and different versions of tannaitic texts from those of his contemporaries.
